A 4th of July Treat...
The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. I celebrate my birthday within days of it so growing up if the 4th feel on a weekend it was combined with my birthday. When I was really young I believed the fireworks were just for me :-). Don't worry that thought didn't last long. We are planning to spend the evening with friends enjoying BBQ and maybe a firepit aftewards. I am not sure how long I will make it out. I have been bed bound for a few days now with my back. I made it out to Walgreens and to get yogurt with limited discomfort yesterday, but it was mostly walking and not sitting. Sitting this week seems to be the trigger.
In honor of the 4th of July I thought I would share one of my favorite iPad apps:
This app is AWESOME! I bought it thinking it would be perfect for my 5th graders who are learning all about the U.S. in Social Studies. I hooked it up via Airserver to the Smartboard at summer school this week and the kids had a blast. It involves traveling the states and solving trivia questions as you go. There are a variety of questions ranging from easy knowledge, to looking at maps to solve, to much higher levels of trivia knowledge. The kids enjoyed playing this as a class and working together to solve the questions. This would be a great game for small groups or individual students as well. I would recommend it in and outside of the classroom.
Here are a few screen shots from inside the game:
I LOVEE me some muppets! Too funny, what a throwback!
