It's Monday What Are You Reading? 7/8/14

I am so happy that I have finally adjusted to the meds for my back enough that the fog has lifted and I can concentrate to read.  I have loved the hours watching dance dramas on Netflixs, but I have missed reading.  I brought a whole pile home this summer to read from my classroom library and had gathered a ton of professional development reads as well, but for the most part they have sat.  I have been able to gather enough attention to read fluff, but nothing that takes thought.

This week IMWAYR is being hosted by Book Journey .Unleashing Readers and Teach Mentor Text are focusing on Kidlit from picture books to young adult.  I can't wait to read everyones response and add them to my every growing list of books I want to read.

Last night I started reading One for the Murphys.  This story had been recommended again and again.  I can see why it is loved.  The story is one written for a middle grade reader to be able to access, but it is deeper than that.  The characters are well developed and it does a fantastic job of letting the reader fill in the gaps instead of giving us a play by play.  This does not always happen in middle grade novels.  I like novels that make readers grow.  Carly in this story is easy for the reader to root for, despite her desire to pull away from everyone.  I can't wait to finish this book, but sleep was needed before that could happen last night.  I am going to dive back in later today.

    1. I just finished it. It was awesome, but the end was rough. I love a book for MG though that is real. Not every story ends the way we want it to.
